How to install an awning?
Installation of the awning requires a stable surface, the right fixings and an electrical connection for motorised models. This step-by-step guide explains what to check before installation, how to mount the awning on the wall and how to connect the motor.
What to check before installing an awning?
Before installation, make sure the wall is strong enough - the awning weighs 54-84 kg depending on width and, when open, puts a considerable load on the wall. Concrete, solid brick and reinforced timber frame are suitable.
Wall material
Concrete, solid brick, CLT panel are suitable. On top of the screed/plaster, it needs through fixings to the load-bearing wall.Electricity
The motorised awning requires a 210-250V / 50-60 Hz socket close to the installation site. Power consumption 230-300 W. Plan cable location in advance.Slope and height difference
The awning will remain open at an angle - recommended height difference between the housing and the front edge is 30-50 cm, maximum 100 cm.Checking the measurements
The awning must fit over the terrace when open. Measure the width and check the projection (depth).Slope in case of rain
Sufficient slope ensures that the rain drains off easily. If the slope is less than 14 degrees, the awning must be closed in the event of heavy and prolonged rain.Obstacles
Check that the awning, when open, does not interfere with windows, gutters, lights.Important!
Direct installation on insulated walls (plaster + polystyrene foam) is NOT suitable - fixings must extend through the insulation to the load-bearing wall. If necessary, consult a building specialist.Tools needed
Gather all the necessary tools before starting the installation. At least two people are needed to install the awning.

Awning weighs 54-84 kgConnecting to the engine
The awning has an EU plug for connection to the mains. If you do not wish to use the plug, it must be connected by a certified electrician. The cable must be weatherproof.Installation step by step
How to install an awning on a wall in 9 steps - using a concrete or stone wall as an example.
Indicate the positions of the anchorages
Use a plumb line and a tape measure. Mark all the positions of the beams on the wall - they must be at the same height and evenly spaced. The number of stretcher bars depends on the width of the awning.Drill holes
Use a cage sized for the bolts and dowels supplied with the kit. For concrete, use percussion drilling. The minimum hole depth is 9 cm. Make sure that the hole is drilled into a stone or concrete wall (or a sufficiently strong wooden wall). Clean the holes of dust.Install dowels and bearers
Insert the dowels into the holes and fix the supports to the wall. Each stretcher is fixed with at least 2 bolts. Check that they are securely fixed.Raise the awning on the stretchers
This is the heaviest step - the awning weighs 54-84 kg. NEED AT LEAST 2 PEOPLE. Lift the awning onto the stretchers and hold it until the fastenings are fixed.Attach the awning to the stretcher
Tighten all bolts and nuts. Check that the awning sits securely in the carriers and does not log.Check horizontality
Use a tide - the awning must be exactly horizontal. Adjust the height of the stretchers if necessary. Uneven installation will cause tension and shorten the life of the marker.Connect the engine
The awning has an EU plug for connection to the mains. If you do not wish to use the plug, you will need to hire a certified electrician. Make sure that the cable is installed in a weatherproof way.Opening and closing the test
Open and close the awning with the remote control. Check that the fabric moves freely, evenly and without friction. If necessary, adjust the angle of inclination and the motor end positions (OPEN/CLOSE).Set the weather sensor (if fitted)
If an air sensor is present, adjust its sensitivity to the wind and weather conditions at the location and test its performance.Expert Recommendation
Leave a gap of 5-10 cm between the awning and the wall - this ensures sufficient air circulation and prevents moisture from collecting between the wall and the cassette. When should an awning be installed by a professional?
We recommend professional installation in the following cases:
Insulated wall
Plaster + foam requires special penetrating fixingsAwning over 4m wide
Installing a large awning requires special skills and additional toolsHeight over 3m
Professional equipment is needed to ensure safetyNeed for a new power line
Electrical work must be carried out by a specialistTent installation service

Most awnings are wall mounted, but the Scandipro Premium model can also be ceiling mounted. The choice depends on the construction of the terrace.

Proper maintenance will ensure a longer awning life. Follow these basic rules.
The fabric must be dry
Make sure the fabric is 100% dry before folding. Damp fabric will create mould that cannot be removed later.Annual maintenance
Check the tension of the bolts, the condition of the joints and the surface of the fabric. Book maintenance →Roll up in case of wind
Do not leave the awning open in strong winds. The awning is designed for wind class I (moderate winds, 5.5-7.5 m/s). If an air sensor is present, check its setting.Never!
Don't pressure wash the fabric of the awning - this will damage the fabric's protective coating. Use a soft brush and neutral soap. Do not use harsh chemicals.Need help?
