FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between an infrared heater and a gas heater?

The infrared heater is electric — heats objects and people directly (like the sun), odorless, also suitable for indoor use. The gas heater runs on propane gas, is mobile and does not require electricity — larger coverage area, decorative fire effect. Read a detailed comparison in the selection guide.

How much electricity does an infrared heater consume?

The electricity cost of a 2 kW infrared heater is approximately 26 cents per hour — significantly cheaper than devices that heat the air, because the infrared heater heats people directly.

Can an infrared heater be used indoors?

Yes — infrared heaters are odorless and emission-free, and are also suitable for unventilated indoor spaces such as garages, conservatories, and offices. Gas heaters are not recommended for use indoors.

Is the heater suitable for attaching to a pop-up tent?

Yes — 3×500W infrared heater attaches to the Scandipro pop up tent frame with velcro. Easy to install and remove. Tested on all Scandipro tent models.

Does the heater fit under a parasol?

Yes — the infrared heater can be attached to the Scandipro Premium central pole shade frame with Velcro.

What is W/m² for heated area?

For an open terrace, we recommend 200–300 W/m². For a semi-enclosed area (with three walls), 100–150 W/m² is sufficient. You can find the exact recommendation in the selection guide.
